The Dalmatian Coast Ride
Our journey began with a logistical hop: flying into Tivat, renting a car at Alamo, and heading to Biking Croatia in Dubrovnik to collect our e-bikes. From there, we drove to Split to begin a magnificent 4-day trek primarily along the EuroVelo 8, hugging the turquoise Adriatic coastlines.
Split to Baška Voda
After a city ride through historic Split, we pedaled through Podstrana toward the day’s true highlight: Omiš. This spectacular town sits where the Cetina River meets the sea, framed by massive limestone cliffs. We finished the day resting at Kaša Rooms.
The Makarska Riviera to Gradac
We continued south through the stunning Makarska Riviera, famous for its pebbled beaches and crystal-clear waters. We passed through the coastal charm of Podgora and Igrane before settling in Gradac at the Hotel Labineca.
Lakes and Ferries: Gradac to Slano
This stage took us past the serene Baćina Lakes to the port of Ploče. We caught the ferry to Trpanj, bypassing the mountains for a scenic crossing. After a climb over the Pelješac peninsula, we reached the medieval walls of Ston and finished at the Admiral Grand Hotel in Slano.
Arboretums and King’s Landing
The final push to Dubrovnik featured a stop at the Trsteno Arboretum, a botanical garden and famous filming site for “King’s Landing.” We detoured through the quiet Zaton bay to avoid traffic, making a grand entrance into Dubrovnik. We celebrated our arrival at Hotel Pine.
